What Cruise Port Transportation Covers

Cruise port transportation covers private sedan, SUV, van, or coach transfers to and from the Port of New Orleans cruise terminals. We pick up from hotels, residences, or MSY and drop you at the correct terminal for your sailing. Service is available for embarkation and debarkation days.

Who Uses Cruise Port Transportation in New Orleans

Leisure cruisers sailing with Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, and other lines book sedan and SUV transfers. Guests staying at the Hilton Riverside, Marriott Warehouse Arts District, and French Quarter hotels use the service before embarkation. Corporate groups chartering a river cruise or hosting a private event also reserve vans and coaches. Volume is highest from October through April, which is the main Gulf cruise season.

Where We Operate and When

Our dispatch team arranges every ride through vetted local affiliate operators who know the cruise terminals. The Port of New Orleans cruise terminals are located at 1350 Port of New Orleans Place, near the Warehouse District. The two main terminals are the Erato Street Terminal and the Julia Street Terminal. Tchoupitoulas Street and Port of New Orleans Place carry heavy traffic on embarkation mornings, especially when multiple ships are in port.

How Pricing Works

Sedan transfers from the French Quarter or Central Business District to the cruise terminal are from $130. Transfers from MSY to the cruise terminal are from a written flat rate. SUVs, sprinter vans, and minibuses are priced higher based on group size and luggage. Rates include tolls, parking, and gratuity. Additional stops or waiting time are billed separately.

An Honest Limitation

Cruise terminal traffic can back up for blocks on embarkation days, and security lines move at the port's pace. We recommend scheduling pickup at least ninety minutes before your boarding window. Vehicles cannot wait inside the terminal drop-off lane, so your driver will stage nearby and meet you curbside.

Embarkation day, step by step

  1. Tell us the ship and cruise line. That decides which terminal the chauffeur heads for.
  2. Pick a time that fits your boarding window. From French Quarter and CBD hotels the terminals are a short drive, but the last few blocks along Tchoupitoulas Street and Port of New Orleans Place can crawl when several ships sail the same day.
  3. Count the bags. A week of luggage for two usually fits a sedan; families and groups are better in an Escalade or a Sprinter.
  4. Drop-off at the curb. The chauffeur unloads at the terminal drop-off and the port porters take it from there.

Flying in on sailing day

Many passengers land at MSY the morning of the cruise and go straight to the ship. That works when the flight lands well ahead of boarding. The chauffeur tracks the flight, meets you after baggage claim and drives east on I-10 into the city, then down to the riverfront. If the flight is delayed, the pickup moves with it. Build in extra margin during Mardi Gras and festival weekends.

Coming home

On debarkation day we watch the ship's arrival and set the pickup for when passengers actually start coming off. From the terminals it is roughly twenty to thirty-five minutes to MSY in normal traffic, or a few minutes to hotels in the Warehouse District and French Quarter for anyone staying on. See MSY airport transfers and the Warehouse District page.

Vehicle rates for cruise days follow the standard card: sedans from $130 one way, SUVs from $160, with S-Class and Sprinter trips quoted in writing.
