What Medical Center Transportation Covers

Medical center transportation covers non-emergency private rides to hospitals, clinics, dialysis centers, and doctor offices. We provide sedans, SUVs, and vans for patients, family members, and medical staff. Service is scheduled in advance and includes door-to-door pickup and drop-off.

Who Uses Medical Center Transportation in New Orleans

Patients traveling to University Medical Center, Ochsner Medical Center, and Tulane Medical Center use the service for appointments and procedures. Out-of-town family members visiting loved ones at local hospitals book sedans from MSY or downtown hotels. Medical device representatives and clinical trial participants reserve rides for recurring visits. Seniors and veterans traveling to the VA Medical Center on Canal Street also use this service.

Where We Operate and When

Our dispatch team arranges medical rides through vetted local affiliate operators across Orleans and Jefferson parishes. University Medical Center New Orleans opened in 2015 and operates a Level 1 trauma center at 2000 Canal Street. Ochsner Medical Center on Jefferson Highway is the largest nonprofit hospital in Louisiana. Service is available by reservation seven days a week, including early-morning appointments.

How Pricing Works

Sedan transfers to downtown medical centers are from $130. Transfers from MSY to University Medical Center or Tulane Medical Center are from a written flat rate. Hourly as-directed service is from $120 per hour with a three-hour minimum. SUVs and wheelchair-accessible vehicles cost more. Rates include tolls, parking, and gratuity. Waiting time during long appointments is billed separately.

An Honest Limitation

We are not an ambulance service and cannot provide medical monitoring, stretcher transport, or oxygen. Passengers needing wheelchair lifts, stretchers, or medical attendants should book specialized medical transport. Heavy traffic on Canal Street and Jefferson Highway can affect appointment arrival times.

Booking a medical appointment ride

  1. Give the facility, building and appointment time. Large campuses have several entrances; the right one saves a long walk.
  2. Say whether the chauffeur should wait. For short visits the car can stay; for procedures with an uncertain end time, a scheduled return pickup is often better.
  3. Note any mobility needs. Our sedans and SUVs suit passengers who can walk to the car. Wheelchair lifts and stretcher transport need specialized medical transport.
  4. Add a companion if one is coming. A sedan seats up to three passengers, an SUV up to six.

Hospitals and campuses we drive to

The downtown medical district sits along Canal Street and Tulane Avenue, with University Medical Center New Orleans and the VA Medical Center side by side on Canal and Tulane Medical Center a few blocks toward the river. Ochsner Medical Center is on Jefferson Highway near the parish line in Jefferson. Touro Infirmary is Uptown on Prytania Street. Out-of-town patients and families often combine a hotel stay downtown with daily rides to one of these campuses.

Visitors flying in

Family members arriving at MSY to visit a patient can be met after baggage claim and driven straight to the hospital, or to a hotel first. The flight is tracked, so a delay does not mean a missed pickup. See MSY transfers and Mid-City service.

Sedan service is $120 per hour with a three-hour minimum when a driver is kept on standby; one-way rides start at $130 in a sedan and $160 in an SUV.
