Most visitors arrive at MSY, which sits in Kenner about fifteen miles west of downtown. All airlines share one terminal, opened in 2019, so there is a single ground transportation area to find after baggage claim. Your confirmation names the meeting point, and the chauffeur follows the flight rather than the timetable. The drive into the city runs east on I-10 past Metairie; depending on traffic it takes twenty to forty minutes to most neighborhoods.
Lakefront Airport is a different kind of arrival. It handles private and charter aircraft on the south shore of Lake Pontchartrain, only a few miles from the French Quarter, and the chauffeur meets you at the FBO rather than a terminal curb. If a private flight is diverted to MSY, the pickup moves with it.
