Cost for this route
A sedan from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport to the French Quarter starts at $130. An SUV starts at $160. Both rates cover a one-way, point-to-point transfer to any address within the Quarter. The quoted fare includes the vehicle, driver, fuel, flight tracking, and curbside meet-and-greet. Tolls are covered on routes where they apply. Gratuity is optional and not included. If you request meet-and-greet inside the terminal, any parking fee the driver pays is passed through at cost. Final pricing adjusts for vehicle class, passenger count, luggage, and late-night or holiday demand.
Route and roads
Your driver will normally take Interstate 10 East from Kenner across the Pontchartrain Expressway and exit at Orleans Avenue or Basin Street. From there, the ride finishes on surface streets such as Rampart, Decatur, Royal, or Chartres depending on your hotel. If I-10 is jammed near the Superdome, your driver may use I-610 East or Airline Drive / Earhart Expressway as an alternate, depending on real-time traffic. The French Quarter sits roughly between Canal Street, Esplanade Avenue, the Mississippi River, and Rampart Street, so addresses inside that grid are easy to reach.
Drive time and traffic
The trip covers about 15 miles and usually takes 25 to 35 minutes from terminal door to hotel door. Morning eastbound congestion on I-10 runs from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Evening slowdowns start around 4:00 p.m. and last until 6:30 p.m. Events at the Caesars Superdome, Smoothie King Center, or Ernest N. Morial Convention Center add volume at the Poydras and Orleans Avenue exits.
When to add a buffer
Add 15 to 30 minutes during weekday rush, Sunday afternoon airport peaks, or any major festival. Mardi Gras season, French Quarter Festival, Jazz Fest, Essence Festival, and New Year's Eve can gridlock Canal Street and Decatur Street. If your pickup coincides with parade hours, build in extra time because the Quarter closes to through traffic and many blocks become pedestrian-only.
Vehicle options
A sedan fits one to three passengers with standard luggage. An SUV accommodates up to six passengers and more bags, which helps groups staying near Jackson Square or Royal Street. Some Quarter hotels have narrow entrances or loading restrictions, so oversized vehicles may need to unload at the nearest corner. Larger groups can request a sprinter van or minibus at custom rates.
Service notes
Chauffeur Service New Orleans coordinates French Quarter service through vetted local affiliate operators. We monitor your flight and adjust the pickup time at no charge for the first hour of delay. After that, waiting time may be billed in increments. The consolidated terminal at MSY opened in November 2019, so all domestic and international arrivals now flow through one exit hall.
