Cost for this route
A sedan from MSY to Metairie starts at $130. An SUV starts at $160. This rate covers a one-way transfer to Veterans Memorial Boulevard, Lakeside Shopping Center, or any Metairie address. The quoted fare includes the vehicle, driver, fuel, flight tracking, and curbside meet-and-greet. Tolls are covered on routes where they apply. Gratuity is optional and not included. If you request meet-and-greet inside the terminal, any parking fee the driver pays is passed through at cost. Final fare depends on vehicle class, luggage, passenger count, and time of day.
Route and roads
The drive normally follows Airport Road or Interstate 10 East to Veterans Memorial Boulevard. Veterans runs east-west through Metairie and is the area's main commercial corridor, home to Lakeside Shopping Center and office parks. If traffic is heavy on Veterans, drivers may use West Esplanade Avenue, West Metairie Avenue, or Clearview Parkway as alternates. Metairie is an unincorporated community in Jefferson Parish, not a city, and sits directly west of New Orleans.
Drive time and traffic
Expect 15 to 30 minutes from MSY to most Metairie destinations during off-peak hours. The evening rush on I-10 eastbound can back up near the Causeway Boulevard merge and the High Rise bridge. Veterans Memorial Boulevard carries heavy shopping and commuter traffic from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
When to add a buffer
Add 10 to 20 minutes during weekday rush, holiday shopping weekends at Lakeside, or events at the nearby Jefferson Performing Arts Center. Friday afternoons and Sunday evenings at MSY are busy, so allow extra time if you are catching a departing flight. Severe weather can flood low spots near the airport and slow the short drive.
Vehicle options
A sedan fits one to three passengers with standard luggage. An SUV carries up to six passengers and is useful for families with shopping bags or extra luggage. Larger groups can request a sprinter van or minibus quote. Child seats and ADA vehicles are available on request.
Service notes
Chauffeur Service New Orleans arranges Metairie service through vetted local affiliates. Flight tracking is included for the first hour of delay. After that, waiting time may be billed. The consolidated MSY terminal opened in November 2019 and handles all arrivals in one building.
