Cost for this route
A sedan from New Orleans to Gulfport starts at $240. An SUV starts at $360. The rate covers a one-way transfer to Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport, downtown Gulfport, or the beachfront casinos. The quoted fare includes the vehicle, driver, fuel, and all route tolls. Gratuity is optional and not included. Extra stops and waiting time are quoted separately. Final pricing depends on vehicle class, luggage, passenger count, and time of day.
Route and roads
The usual route follows Interstate 10 East across the Lake Pontchartrain Twin Span, through Slidell, and into Mississippi for roughly 77 miles. Drivers continue past Diamondhead and Pass Christian before reaching Gulfport. If the Twin Span is congested or restricted, U.S. 90 along the coast serves as a slower scenic alternate. Gulfport is the second-largest city in Mississippi and sits on the Gulf of Mexico, adjacent to Biloxi and its casino corridor.
Drive time and traffic
Plan on 75 to 100 minutes from New Orleans to Gulfport under normal conditions. Beach weekends, holidays, and casino events can slow the corridor, especially near Biloxi. Summer thunderstorms and tropical systems can shut down the Twin Span or cause heavy delays. Construction on I-10 in Mississippi occasionally narrows lanes and extends travel time.
When to add a buffer
Add 30 to 45 minutes during holiday weekends, spring break, and major events at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum or Beau Rivage. Hurricane season runs June through November; if a storm is in the Gulf, travel may need to be rescheduled. If you are flying out of Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport, allow extra time for security.
Vehicle options
A sedan fits one to three passengers with standard luggage. An SUV carries up to six passengers and is useful for groups with golf clubs, beach gear, or extra bags. Larger groups can request a sprinter van or minibus quote. Child seats and ADA vehicles are available on request.
