Cost for this route
A sedan from MSY to Mid-City starts at $130. An SUV starts at $160. The rate covers a one-way transfer to homes, restaurants, and businesses along Canal Street, Carrollton Avenue, and Bayou St. John. The quoted fare includes the vehicle, driver, fuel, flight tracking, and curbside meet-and-greet. Tolls are covered on routes where they apply. Gratuity is optional and not included. If you request meet-and-greet inside the terminal, any parking fee the driver pays is passed through at cost. Final pricing depends on vehicle class, luggage, passenger count, and time of day.
Route and roads
Drivers typically follow Interstate 10 East and exit at Orleans Avenue or City Park Avenue. Carrollton Avenue, Canal Street, and Broad Street are the main north-south and east-west routes through Mid-City. Some affiliates use Earhart Expressway or Airline Drive as alternates when I-10 is congested near the airport. Mid-City sits between the French Quarter and Lakeview and is known for Bayou St. John, the Bayou Boogaloo festival, and the Canal-Cemeteries streetcar line.
Drive time and traffic
The ride usually takes 20 to 40 minutes from terminal to a Mid-City address. Morning eastbound delays on I-10 run 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Evening congestion starts around 4:00 p.m. and lasts until 6:30 p.m. Local festivals and roadwork along Canal Street or Carrollton Avenue can add time.
When to add a buffer
Add 15 to 30 minutes during weekday rush, festival weekends, and events at City Park or the Fair Grounds Race Course. Mardi Gras parades sometimes roll on Canal Street and affect Mid-City access. If you are dining along Bayou St. John during Bayou Boogaloo, expect extra traffic.
Vehicle options
A sedan fits one to three passengers with standard luggage. An SUV carries up to six passengers and works well for groups with strollers, festival gear, or extra bags. Larger groups can request a sprinter van or minibus quote. Child seats and ADA vehicles are available on request.
Service notes
Chauffeur Service New Orleans coordinates Mid-City service through vetted local affiliates. We track flights for the first hour of delay. After that, waiting charges may apply. The consolidated MSY terminal opened in November 2019 and funnels all arrivals through one exit.
