Cost for this route
A sedan from MSY to the Garden District starts at $130. An SUV starts at $160. The rate covers a one-way transfer to hotels and homes along St. Charles Avenue and nearby side streets. The quoted fare includes the vehicle, driver, fuel, flight tracking, and curbside meet-and-greet. Tolls are covered on routes where they apply. Gratuity is optional and not included. If you request meet-and-greet inside the terminal, any parking fee the driver pays is passed through at cost. Pricing adjusts for vehicle class, luggage, passenger count, and late-night or holiday surcharges.
Route and roads
The common route follows Interstate 10 East to the Carrollton Avenue / City Park Avenue exit, then south to St. Charles Avenue, Washington Avenue, or Magazine Street. Some affiliates use the Earhart Expressway or Airline Drive approach when I-10 is congested. The Garden District is famous for its oak-lined St. Charles Avenue mansions and Lafayette Cemetery No. 1, and the St. Charles streetcar runs right down the median.
Drive time and traffic
The ride usually takes 25 to 45 minutes from terminal to hotel. Eastbound I-10 backs up from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and again from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The approach to the St. Charles corridor can slow during the evening rush. Mardi Gras parade days on St. Charles Avenue turn the neighborhood into a pedestrian zone and can add 30 to 45 minutes.
When to add a buffer
Add 15 to 30 minutes during weekday rush, parade season, and major events at Tulane or Loyola. If your hotel is directly on St. Charles, expect rolling road closures during parade weekends. Sunday afternoons at MSY are heavy with returning travelers, so inbound flights to the Garden District should include padding.
Vehicle options
A sedan fits up to three passengers with standard luggage. An SUV carries six passengers and works well for groups with bulky luggage heading to a St. Charles Avenue mansion or a Magazine Street inn. Larger groups need a sprinter van or minibus quote. Child seats and ADA vehicles are available on request.
Service notes
Chauffeur Service New Orleans uses vetted local affiliates for Garden District pickups. We track your flight and hold the vehicle for the first hour of delay. The consolidated MSY terminal, opened in November 2019, funnels all domestic and international arrivals through one exit hall.
